red hat linux and dell 2161ds mouse troubles

when using the 2161 with linux the mouse won't sync up and
the cursor
is very erratic. red hat support offered the 'psmouse.proto'
kernel
boot parameter, but it failed to correct the issue.

dell didn't have an answer or even a guess as to why.

anyone out there experienced this or similar problems using
a console
switch? is there something in x i can adjust to resolve it?

it's very annoying.

thanks!

shawn

if it's a PS2 mouse, try to replace it with a USB mouse.

Allen.

This is only slightly related.

Some of the PowerEdge systems I work on don't like USB
mice/keyboards.
But an update on BIOS for a different issue seems to have
them behaving
rather nicely now.
