unknown message

This appears in /var/log/messages.  Can anyone tell me what
it means?
kernel: martian source 192.168.1.255 from 192.168.1.61, on
dev eth0

It means there is something on the network to which eth0 is
connected that sends packets with addresses that your
machine
thinks shouldn't occur on that network.

You should probably filter these with an appropriate
iptables
setup.
