Sir,
i downloaded Realplayer10 GOLD.bin & .rpm
i made
the .bin file executable by running the "chmod
a+x RealPlayer10GOLD.bin"
command from a terminal window.
and i executed
the .bin file by typing ./RealPlayer10GOLD.bin. (run program)
now when i tried to play .Dat file , the realplayer menu(window) is closing.
what should i do to play .dat files in redhat linux 9. plz help me.

an error.
We would need more information
about this .dat file you are trying to play. Use the command
"file" to
determine the file type of this particular DAT file. Are you
able to
play other datatypes (mp3, realaudio...)?

My guess is that the .dat file he's trying to play is from a video-cd
(MPEG1 video in the \mpegav dir of a video cd, or such mpeg file copied
over to a hard disk).
As far as I'm aware, that's the only type of .dat video file commonly used on Windows....
