RealPlayer plugin - rpcl3260.zip - liveconnect - DoPlay()

I need some help with the Win32 version of the RealPlayer
plugin
(nppl3260.dll). All real.com support does is send me here,
but I'm not
sure this is the right spot.

Anyway, in Netscape 4.x, if you have rpcl3260.zip in the
plugin path ,
RealPlayer plugin scripting methods like DoPlay() are
available on the
object.

When you invoke DoPlay() in Netscape 4.x, DoPlay() returns
true and
the file will start playing.

The problem is, Opera needs to use nppl3260.dll and
rpcl3260.zip
exactly like Netscape 4.x. ( because Opera still uses
liveconnect for
plugin scripting just like Netscape 4.x does)

In Opera, methods like DoPlay() are available, but they
don't work and
return false when called.

I don't believe it's a problem with RAPlayer or the
RMObserver
interface that come in rpcl3260.zip. I believe it's a
problem with the
plugin itself and *it* is not letting Opera access its
methods
properly.

I need somebody to tell me exactly what Opera needs to do to
make the
plugin let Opera use its methods properly?

Does Opera have to fake that it's Netscape 4.x somehow? If
so, how exactly?

I really need to get in contact with the dev(s) that handle
liveconnect to get this sorted out.

I've been trying to find the answer to this for a long
time. Any help
would be appreciated.

Do note that Opera does not use the Sun JRE netscape plugins
like
Firefox. Opera uses the JRE directly.

Is there something special with the Java that is bundled
with Netscape
4.x that makes things work? Is there something special with
the JRE
java plugins that make things work?

Maybe a bug report is in order and maybe the plugin can be
fixed to
allow Opera to use it. The plugin not letting Opera use its
methods
breaks lots of sites for Opera that use the RealPlayer
plugin and
scripting.

Thanks very much

On a side note, the RealPlayer Win32 installer only installs
rpcl3260.zip if you have Netscape 4.x and then it's only
installed to
the netscape plugins directory. The installer should
*always* install
rpcl3260.zip to "C:\Program
Files\Real\RealPlayer\Netscape6" so
browsers like Opera can find it and use it.

Can someone file a report on the installer issue or direct
me to where I can?

Thanks
