When I used FC4 I was using Red Hat's older Firefox... and
tried your RPM.
I noticed at the time that it was faster, but wasn't sure
whether it was
improvements in 1.5 or something about the way it was
compiled.

Now I'm used FC5 Firefox 1.5 and have found the same
sluggish performance,
I'm pretty sure it something to do with how Firefox was
compiled.

Just for reference: I'm using an AMD XP 2000+ with a Matrox
G550 card.

If it's either of those things, it's not good news. I
though GNOME 2.14
was bringing improvements in pango... but it doesn't seem
like it from
what I've seen (assuming it is to blame). The difference
really is very
noticeable. It goes from annoying delays and sluggish
scrolling with RH's
Firefox to fairly snappy with your RPM.
