sun-jdk install problems on amd64

I can't seem to be able to emerge sun-jdk

I have downloaded both jdk-6-dlj-linux-amd64.bin and
jdk-6-dlj-linux-i586.bin put them both in my
/usr/portage/distfiles/
directory, set permissions to root:portage ugo+rx and I
still get
"cannot read files. please check permissions" when
I try to emerge
sun-sdk.  Also, I can't seem to find any howto's or info
about this
problem.

How so I install sun-jdk?

Here is my emerge command:


 emerge -a sun-jdk

This is probably not the best place for questions like this,
since it's
unrelated to X, gnome, or kde.  You'd be better off asking
on either the
amd64 list (gentoo-amd64lists.gentoo.org) or the
java list
(gentoo-javalists.gentoo.org).  You're much more likely to get
correct
answers in one of those places.
