Weirdness with coreutils on Darwin/OSX

I noticed weird errors while removing directories
recursively, e.g.:

 % rm -Rf .svn
 rm: cannot remove directory `.svn/prop-base': Directory not
empty

Just redoing the rm command, got like half of the previous
errors, so
doing it a few times finally got rid of the error.  I moved
my rm, cp
and mv binaries in my prefix and use the ones provided by
Apple: no
such error occurs occur.  Are we using a wrong coreutils, or
do the gnu
versions not work properly on Darwin?
