Hey all,

Starting from last weekend, Gentoo/Alt:Prefix has room for
ATs
(ArchTesters). The Gentoo/Alt AT page has been moved to get
a little
bit more visible (http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/gentoo-alt/at/index.xml)
and I am all in favour of this nice way of life, that
contributors for
Gentoo/Alt:Prefix can have.

Note that the AT project of Gentoo/Alt is not limited to
Gentoo/Alt:Prefix, on the contrary! It deals with AT's for
the whole of
Gentoo/Alt. So if you're not interested at all in Prefix,
but working
on that BSD port, don't hestitate to check it all out!

The Gentoo/Alt ATs assist the developers with the
time-consuming task of
testing packages, in order to help keeping the tree up to
date.
For this task they mainly communicate with the developers
through
Gentoo's Bugzilla (http://bugs.gentoo.org)
and -- if possible -- IRC.
The ATs are also on the relevant mail alias so they can
watch the
bugzilla traffic closely.

Gentoo/Alt:Prefix ATs also work on porting packages from the
main tree
into the prefix tree. They need to pass the ebuild quiz,
like all ATs,
but additionally need to take the prefix additional
questions quiz (to
be made available shortly). Being an AT is good when you
want to become
a Gentoo Developer. However, you don't have to become a
developer if
you are an AT.

If you find yourself doing active development on
Gentoo/Alt:Prefix, and
are up for the challenge, go for it! Don't wait till
tomorrow, but
enroll today!

See you all in class! :p
