Network problems

I guess on technicality that would be correct.  I can't
figure out
what to do here.

setting ifconfig_nve0="DHCP" doesn't seem to
affect my boot up.  I
still have to manually start dhclient, even though once
finished I
can't seem to ping the outside world.
