U2 (dual-cpu)  2.6.21, 100hz:

wormhole linux # time make -j3 all

real    58m28.339s
user    107m14.260s
sys     5m56.160s

load average was above 10 for most of it, yet responsive,
albeit a little slower for disk access, unsurprisingly. 

however -  I've never been able to complete a compile
without
the system slamming to a halt, so this is a -great- sign.
