What do you want them to be able to do? If they just need to
log in
and use the shell, they can use Putty to ssh into the box.
If you're
sharing files, then samba is your best bet.

Rene,

A really good place to start, would be to read this:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t
-114837-highlight-active+directory+samba
.html

If you only want to allow users to be authenticated from an
AD server and
login to the shell, then I suggest using winbind, which is
what I currently
use. The only draw back with using winbind, is that I never
did figure out a
way to deny a user access to the shell even if you only want
them to be a
user in AD. i.e. if the user has a username+password in AD
and they ssh in
the Gentoo box will allow them to login to the shell.

Thanks,
Brett

Rene -

I'm guessing that one of the howtos on this page will have
the
information you need:

Hi Rene,

I suppose those users would like to use their existing
credentials to
login to your linux box. If you have ADS and need login only
pam_krb5
and pam_ldap (or just pam_ldap) might be a good start. For a
NT4 style
domain, samba is required.

The big picture here is: for AD you get a ticket from the AD
KDC (that
is authorization) and your ID data from AD LDAP with
pam_ldap. With NT4
domains winbindd from samba does it all in one place, you
basically join
the domain and there is a pam module pam_winbind that makes
domain users
available to PAM aware applications.

cheers

There is no "easy" method. The best method(my
opinion, and the one I
use) is winbind/smb.
