Font help

I have a font I got it is a true type font and it's a text font called
Evanescent but it won't work it GIMP. It doesn't even show up as one
of the fonts I can chose but it works in other programs. Does any one
have any idea on how to get it to work? I have some other font that do
the same thing but I don't really care about the other.
