how do I make my own printable wine labels?

Hi All,
When I started messing around with gimp a year ago it had too many
bugs and I got frustrated and left it alone.Well I wanted to try it
again and saw the newer versions with bug fixes for windows xp.
I removed all older versions and plugins.I did download all the new
files needed for the new install and got it running much smoother this
time.
Here is what I want to do.
I have a wine label with some border around it(some grapes and
vines). The middle of this is open for what I want to do.I want to add
a picture(jpg,tiff,whatever works)near the top middle.Not overlapping
the border at all.I then want to add some text(type of wine,Merry
Christmas etc.)Then when I am ready I want to block out the original
border so it doesn't print because it is already on the label, and also
the background color on the label.I just want to print the picture and
text on the label without wasting the ink trying to duplicate it all.

Now when it is ready and I press print I want to be able to put the
image and text onto each label. The labels are aproximately 85mm h by
105mm w.They are not in a sheet just a small stack.
If anyone has tried this or succeeded at it I could really use the
help.I am using a Canon MP360 for printing.

Thanx
Merry Christmas
