i need help!!

I just recently downloaded GIMP and the gtk+ file. I am operating on
windows xp and when i start the program it crashes immediately. What
do I need to do to get it to work? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

You can start by telling us more specifically what you did and what
happens. Where exactly did you download GIMP from? What version? What
do you mean with "crash"? (Many non-technical users use that word very
loosely.) Did you read the FAQ at
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/faq.html ?

You said that you downloaded GIMP and the GTK+ file. You didn't say that you
installed the GTK+ file though. On the other hand you didn't say that you
installed GIMP either...

Did you install GTK+ or did you just download it? I THINK that you need to
install GTK+ before you install GIMP, but I am not sure about that detail.
