yes - it gives you the choice to include or not include GTK+ (I think
because of the dependency described in 436242
<http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436242> : depend on GTK+ 2.10.13
I tried building it both ways. Neither works.
I notice that the files from Common files/GTK+ (installed by the GTK
2.10.13) installer are all different dates and tend to be larger than
those installed by the Gimp 2.3.18 installer.
I tried copying over the GTK files into a copy of the Gimp 2.3.18 but no
joy.
I posted the crash report (from Dr.Mingw) to the dev list but have not
yet got any response:

AFAICT the link on http://www.gimpusers.de/gimp-download.php&tbb=1

"official" sourceforge files page - in any case they are the same now.
I'll try d/l'ing and installing the older GIMP 2.3.14 (2007-01-28
16:09) (and if necessary regress GTK+ to one of GTK+ 2.10.11 (2007-04-19
17:41) GTK+ 2.10.6 Notes (2006-10-10 16:13) - As I read the bug report
436242 <http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=436242> this should
work at the cost of problems changing extensions while saving files.
Failing that I guess I have to wait for Gimp 2.3.19 to be released or
attempt to build from CVS myself (hopefully I got the tools required
from my Mingw downloads yesterday 
)
