Hi... I recently downloaded the GIMP 2.4RC3, but, I'm having troubles... GIMP hang like crazy, while it load the fonts. I did everything http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/faq.html told me to, with no luck. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate. Also it might be important (I don't know), but, under my user name directory, I got both a ".gimp-2.2" and a ".gimp-2.4" directory... And I deleted the ".fonts.cache-1" file, so it's no longer there... I'm really sorry, bother you with a known problem, but, did try the known solutions, with no luck... Actually a better place is ftp.gnome.org, in particular http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/dependencies/ and in there http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/binaries/win32/dependencies/fontconfig-2.4.2-tml-20071015.zip . ftp.gnome.org is often more up to date than ftp.gtk.org for the win32 stuff, the directory structure on ftp.gtk.org is less clear and there has been also disk space issues there now and then. --tml __._,_.___ Messages in this topic (0) Reply (via web post) \| Start a new topic . __,_._,___

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It worked! I can't thank you enough! (both of you) I'm so happy, GIMP starts in like 4 seconds now... what a relief.... I think the creator of http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ should be contacted, so he include the new files, in the next RC or final... I don't know how to do that, however... Hi Niklas, The first time you load gimp (or the first time after delete you delete the .fonts.cache-1)it take a while for gimp to load. This is because gimp is building a database of the fonts eg fonts.cache-1, i suggest you leave it for a few minutes maybe go have a cup of coffee.
