k...trying to follow here...love gmail...I don't receive
unrecognized
(ie, wrong) e-mail sent to firstlast, but if I send test
e-mail from
another e-mail service to firstlast and receive it at
first.last, isn't
that a problem?

I tried to get firstlast but it's been taken.

    its been taken...by you.  when you register, for instance, calebegg, you also get caleb.egg, c.a.l.e.b.e.g.g, and everything in between.  You also get calebegg+anythingyouwanthere and emails can be sent to either calebegg(at)gmail.com or calebegg(at)googlemail.com. its not a flaw, its a feature

That's what I was thinking after I hit "post" and
walked away.  Your
answer also explains the other article I ran across - about
how to use
