What email client are you using on your Treo? Is it the
standard
VersaMail? Do you have a 650?
There are settings in Versamail that will delete your email
from the
server when it is deleted from VersaMail. Also, as was
noted, you
should check your GMail settings to see if once it is
downloaded to the
Treo, whether the message is deleted or autoarchived on
GMail.
On the treo, check Preferences: Autosync and Preferences:
Deletion. If
your Treo is regularly downloading your mail, as Ryan said,
even if you
haven't looked at it yet, GMail may be archiving or
deleting. I have
VersaMail on my Treo 650 notify me when it downloads new
mail. You may
wish to set up a separate GMail account, forward all your
messages to
it, and use the Treo to download those messages. That would
be a more
elaborate solution to your problem, if you can't figure out
which
settings to configure.

would have no way of knowing that this isn't actually
"you" reading it, so it would carry out
whatever action you have specifed, as Zach said.
