This is what I found in the Gmail Help Section. I guess the
grouping of
conversations is still in its infancy.

My messages aren't grouped properly
Because this is a preview release of Gmail, we're still
working out a
few kinks. You can't manually merge or separate messages
from
conversations at this time, even though you may find that
some of your
messages aren't properly grouped.
We're working hard to fix this. You can help us by sending
us the
headers from messages in the affected conversation.
Here's how to find the headers:
Open a message
Click 'More options
Click 'Show original'
Copy everything from 'Delivered-To:' through the
'References:' line.
Please click here to send us the headers.
