Kludge. Workarounds. How to sort in gmail by subject, by author, by size or by other parameters.

What workarounds in gmail could sort messages by subject
alphabetically?... a kludge for gmail that would do a
subject sort alphabetically?...

or by author?...
or by size?...
or by some other parameters?

Besides forwarding all the messages to another email reader,
for example http://mail.yahoo.com

Or other than a cut and paste of the gmail messages listings
into an editor, for example EMACS http://www.gnu.org
