Filter contact group

Still I canīt believe that we gmailers canīt filter contact
groups.
What i do know is that you canīt make the same contact group
and a
label. But why it is that way i donīt know.

If somebody know how to filter a contact group all at ones
(instead of
typing every email adress) please tell us or at lease me.

The benefits would be great.

I did this with my contacts that I imported from Outlook. In
Outlook
you have categories, and I have always organized my contacts
this way
(friends, customers, etc.). Gmail contacts doesn't use
categorization,
so when I imported the contacts from Outlook, that category
tag was
automatically stored in the comments field.

Here's how I did it after my contacts were imported to
Gmail:
I made a group called "customers"
Then I searched the contacts for "customers",
which gave me all the
records I was looking for...
Last, I selected all and assigned them to the
"customers" group I
created

You have to figure out if there is anything common in the
contact
records you want to group. Use that as your search criteria
and then
you can do it. If there isn't anything that is common among
all the
contacts you want to group, then your stuck with the one by
one method.

What do you mean by "filter contact groups"?  Do
you mean the ability
to use a contact group in a filter?  If so, I agree that
would be a
great feature.  Make sure you suggest it to GMail.

As far as naming a contact group the same as a label, I can
answer
that.  A contact group IS a label, and you can't have two
labels with
the same name.  I realize ones for contacts and the other's
for
messages, but that doesn't matter.

skinman If I understand you well, then i put a name or a
code into
comment field and search this code or name than I get all
those
contacts?
So I can use a filter on this code or name, But it is a work
to be done
then :(


Zack I really mean to use a contact group into a filter.
But if a contact group is the same as a label. Isn't there a
code for
searching those contact labels?
I like to search that out by my self, but cant read the java
code from
gmail.

That google didn't put that function on line.
