This is a limitation of the POP implementation of GMail.
You can use
the web interface on one or both machines, and they'll both
always
know exactly what's going on with the account.
If you insist on using POP, search this forum, and look for
one call
"GMail and POP". Alternatives to downloading in
two places have been
posted there.
