We're a user-group, so we can't give you a definitive
answer, but here
are a few clues as to what the situation might be:
GMail reserves some usernames from ever being registered
(like admin,
yaweh, etc) and I don't know why, but that might be one of
them.
Someone may have already registered that name, but they're
no longer
active. GMail holds your name for something like 9 months
after you
stop using it so no one else can register it.
