Currently I use yahoo mail for all my e-mail needs.
Using Firefox & Adblock+ (with element hiding) I was
able tweak
yahoo mail to look cleaner without ads and flashy images.
Yahoo mail in Firefox serves all my e-mail needs pretty
well.
But I am concerned about impending Yahoo mail beta.
It is ad-infested. And Slooooooowww.
If Yahoo makes its current Beta as only mail interface, I
would be
forced to move to gmail.
I love Google Search 's clean interface.
I also love Gmail's clean interface.
Most annoying thing for me in Gmail is conversation
feature.
I treat my e-mail Inbox like a "To Do" list.
i.e. When I ever I get a e-mail I take an action on
that e-mail (either a reply or resolving issues stated in
the e-mail).
And When I am satisfied with my action on that e-mail I move
the e-
mail
from inbox to a appropriate folder.
With Conversation view I am not able to treat each e-mail as
a
separate entity.
I understand fair amount people love Conversation feature.
I am not going to argue on Whether conversation feature is
better or
not!
That is just a individual preference.
My point is:
Why is conversation view made mandatory in Gmail?!
Why don't gmail development team provide conversation view
as a
choice?
Make conversation view the default choice for Gmail.
But provide an option so that people who don't prefer that
could just turn conversation feature off.
(There is work around of using client like eudora and POP3
.. but)
(Excuse my English. English is not my first language)

You could try using the "star" feature to mark items still needing to be acted on. You can mark individual messages that way and click on them in the "Starred" label on the left hand side.

One of the regular check boxes on the suggestion page is to
control
conversation feature (turn it on and off). I check it every
time I
suggest, and you should as well.

There is no requirement for you to switch from original to beta Yahoo mail. Yahoo is allowing you to take either of them. My view of both is Henny Youngman-like: please, take them.

I bet you must be one of the Gmail developer.
If my company stock went up like Google stock, sure I would
also
be talking like you only.

What does what Burton said have to do with him working for Google? All he said was Yahoo gives the option of using Beta or normal, which addressed the original post's comment that Yahoo Mail Beta is quite slow.

I think that Kevin is afraid of Yahoo! retiring the original
mail once
the beta version is no longer in beta.

Have you considered just archiving the message once it's
been acted
upon? GMail will maintain your message in the archive
forever. And you
can even label the email in the event you need to sort by
action type.
