Even though I've uninstalled gmail and all other Google
programmes,
contact links in webpages still bring up gmail. Worse, this
closes the
webpage so I have to go round in a circle to get back. I
cannot find
any way to reset my browser 'cos gmail keeps popping up to
prevent
this. Does anyone know how to put an end to this?
I resent Google taking over my system this way without
offering
support as to how to turn it back. I thought Google's motto
was "Do no
harm." Now I'm not so sure. If the web page didn't
close when gmail
came up, this would not be such a big problem. Preventing
gmail being
the default client would be the real solution.

The problem is that somehow the registry changes that the Gmail Notifier/Google Talk client to allow you to click on email links and have them open in Gmail somehow were not removed when you got uninstalled it (you did uninstall the notifier, right?). Try reinstalling it and then removing it.
