It sounds like you have their e-mail addresses typed
incorrectly. If
you've received and replied, that would add them to your
contact list.
Check your contact list and I suspect you'll find two
entries for
your friends, one correct, one wrong. Delete the wrong one
so it
doesn't get used again.
