2 questions:

1. would like to put incoming e mails in folders, so they
are not on
the main screen. they are all on filters, but this just
gives them a
group name. don't want to discard them as I may need to
refer to in
the future.

2. just set up my mobile phone to get incoming e mails.
however , I
also get notified by the mobile phone that I just sent an
email from
my computer. would just like to be notified that i have
incoming mail.
not outgoing. can anyone help?

I think that what you're looking for is "archive." Clicking that button while in a conversation (or with conversation's checked in the inbox) will remove them from the inbox, but they are still available under "all mail" and their labels.
