However, I do not remember how I made Labels and currently I
cannot
figure out how I did that.
I have read from Google and it said to go to the "More
Actions" pull
down menu and then hit Apply Label but I can hit each Label
I made but
not the Apply Label itself.

Nick,
The only green box I see is between "Gmail" and
"Search Mail" and
naturally that is currently empty.
Thank you for your time.

Down the left side of your screen. It's after all the blue
links for
"inbox", "starred", "chats",
etc.
And from the More Actions... box, like Nick said, don't
select "apply
label" which is greyed out. To create a new label
while applying,
select "new label..." from the bottom of that
box.

Yes... Labels, is the beginning of the green box. If it's
all it
says, then it's collapsed. Click the triangle to the left
of the name
(assuming you're not in "html" mode, and are in
standard mode).

It would seem strange to me that this would be the issue but
I am in
"html" mode but I am in basic mode, not standard
mode. I have dial up
with an accelerator which speeds me up, up to 5-times. I
have waited
for a few minutes and standard mode does not bring up Gmail
for me.
I do not have a tab to delete contacts and sometimes I do
not have a
scroll mechanism.
Perhaps being in basic mode, I do not get these things but
that would
seem very odd to me.

Yee g-ds, that's your problem.
I just switched to Basic HTML mode and discovered exactly
what you're seeing.
You don't actually have a green box, but green links. They
do not
have a Edit Labels link at the bottom. Nor does "More
Actions..."
have the "New Label..." link at the end. I can
only guess that you
accessed it in standard mode before to be able to create the
labels
you are using.
Here's a link describing SOME of the differences
<https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?ans
wer=15049>.
There are other users of GMail on this forum that use
Standard mode on
dial-up. Perhaps they can help you figure out what the
problem is.
Then you'll have all the features we're talking about making
what
you're trying to do so much easier.

That pretty much sucks, pardon me, that because I am using a
different
version that it is so bad.
Hopefully somebody who has dial up and perhaps with an
accelerator
will help me or I guess that I need to make more calls about
a DSL
service. I was considering AT&T and then they raised
their rates and
I did not like that. For AT&T, they want $5 more per
month than I am
paying. I contacted Earthlink yesterday and they are pretty
bad. I
think they rely on those people who, seeing the 6-month
offer for
$12.99 and then the sign up on the right, as I think it is
strange
that so many people live for the day and tomorrow is what it
is, they
do not find out that after the 6-months, that Earthlink has
a contract
for 12-months and after 6-months the rate is $29.99.
Although
Earthlink says that they do not charge for the hardware, I
know of no
company that has charged me for the hardware, including
DirecTV which
I no longer use but instead an outdoor antenna. They do
charge $20
for shipping the equipment and I have not heard of that
before either.
Rightfully, and wrongly as the representatives did not do a
diligent
job, I asked if I am on a contact when I upgraded and was
told that I
am not. When I called to cancel, I was told that the
cancellation
charge is $25. Strangely, as I waited a few days and that
even though
the dish was not come close to, I was told that the day
after the
outdoor antenna was installed, the dish was out of
alignment.
In general, I do not make money decisions as I am talking
over the
phone which is probably why I waited a few days to call in
to actually
cancel. I was told that because I waited, the cancellation
fee is now
$37.
I called into Billing and I think that much of what she said
is not
correct and I actually now know after paying their $37 that
at least
some of what she said is not correct.
Due to poorly trained ordering and cancellation staff, I do
not
recommend DirecTV. Otherwise, it is a good service.

I don't know what plan you were looking at for AT&T, but their cheapest service is $14.99 per month. As a person upgrading from dial up, that would probably be fine. And if that happens to be only $5 more than what you're paying now, I would do it. The amount of productivity you gain by not having to wait around for dial up will be worth it.
The only disadvantage that I've found to AT&T/SBC (SBC was bought out a while ago) is that they have limiters on Bittorrent traffic. And not just speed... they actually kill the connection every few minutes and it takes a minute or two for it to recover. If you're using dial up right now thought you don't have to worry about it... probably haven't even used Bittorrent.

That pretty much sucks, pardon me, that because I am using a different version that it is so bad.
Hopefully somebody who has dial up and perhaps with an accelerator will help me or I guess that I need to make more calls about a DSL
service. I was considering AT&T and then they raised their rates and I did not like that. For AT&T, they want $5 more per month than I am paying. I contacted Earthlink yesterday and they are pretty bad. I
think they rely on those people who, seeing the 6-month offer for $12.99 and then the sign up on the right, as I think it is strange that so many people live for the day and tomorrow is what it is, they do not find out that after the 6-months, that Earthlink has a contract
for 12-months and after 6-months the rate is $29.99. Although Earthlink says that they do not charge for the hardware, I know of no company that has charged me for the hardware, including DirecTV which I no longer use but instead an outdoor antenna. They do charge $20
for shipping the equipment and I have not heard of that before either.
Rightfully, and wrongly as the representatives did not do a diligent job, I asked if I am on a contact when I upgraded and was told that I
am not. When I called to cancel, I was told that the cancellation charge is $25. Strangely, as I waited a few days and that even though the dish was not come close to, I was told that the day after the outdoor antenna was installed, the dish was out of alignment.
In general, I do not make money decisions as I am talking over the phone which is probably why I waited a few days to call in to actually cancel. I was told that because I waited, the cancellation fee is now
$37.
I called into Billing and I think that much of what she said is not correct and I actually now know after paying their $37 that at least some of what she said is not correct.
Due to poorly trained ordering and cancellation staff, I do not
recommend DirecTV. Otherwise, it is a good service.
