gmail very slow lately

my gmail is very slow and unresponsive the last week. Last
week was
slow, this past weekend and today have been very bad.   A
lot of "oops,
the system was unable to perform your operation"
messages.  A lot of
gmail server errors.

Is there something going on with gmail or is the problem on
my end?  My
verizon dsl is working fine otherwise.  Have had gmail for
over a year
and have never had this much trouble before.

Ditto on that. I haven't been able to access it or send
from either
work (at a major University) or from home (with Bellsouth
DSL).

The really annoying thing is that my wife has been using
hers nonstop
without any problems at all. Anyway, just commiserating.
I'll probably
have to go back to my old email.

I'm having the same problem.  I haven't been able to get
onto gmail
tonite for 3 hours now.... I am waiting to hear what in the
world is
going on!

I have two gmail accounts. One gets very light usage and the
other, the
one I am having problems with, gets normal day to day usage.
 I am on a
few industry chat groups so there are about 100 messages a
day on the
account with the problem.

I delete my messages so I am not exceeding my storage.

Basically, the problem is not a network one because the
account that is
seldom used is working fine.

I posted a gmail help form and just received this in
response:

includes,
but
is not limited to:

- Receiving, deleting, or popping out large amounts of mail

alot of storage and I am assuming so do you, extactly how
many emails
are you getting?

I have been having the same problem. I start out fine then
all of the
sudden I get a server problem message that seems to take for
ever to
clear up. Although tonight's 1 st one, it usually happens 2
or 3 time
per night with me lately, it was cleared up in a few minutes
and has
been fine for over an hour. But wait til about 10 pm East
Coast time
and it will act up again.  It has been doing that for this
week so far.

GMAIL IS SOOOOO SLOW... how long can it sit on Loading and
not Load
anything!!!  I am thinking of going back to yahoo.
