Conversation View (as they call it) is a major selling point
feature
for GMail.  If you do not like it, and cannot get used to
it, then I'd
say this Beta test is not for you.  You might consider a
different
free e-mail provider.

1]have you ever ever considered NOT using the reply button?
replying
creates a "chain" which is called a conversation.
if you hate it, do
something different, use "compose" and give the
mail a new subject.
2]if you have conversations that are huge, try using
collapse all, so
you only see the newest message. short of that,
3]use another provider.

If the person you're "conversing" with uses
"reply" rather than
"compose" to respond to your email, you get a
conversation on your end
anyway, right?
