Gmail Completely Unreliable and Incompetent!!

I have now been unable to access my gmail account for nearly
two weeks.
I cannot access any part of my gmail in any way. For the
last week,
when I try to log in, I get the message:

"We're currently performing some unexpected
maintenance on your
account. While we can't predict exactly how long it will
take,
we're working as quickly as we can to restore access to
your
email--apologies for the inconvenience.

If you have questions, please contact us at
[email address]."

This is completely insane!! I've also emailed the address
they mention,
only to get generic, replies with no answers about when I
might regain
access to my account.

I am simply furious about the lack of support I am getting.

Do yourself a favor: don't use Gmail.

Ok ok, don't be too hasty with that decision.  But you do
have a point
- Google is offering no explanation to this problem that is
obviously
affecting a lot of people.  I'd give it a while longer.

No kidding.
And I will. I was so excited to use gmail for over a year.
UNTIL this
happened. I can't wait to stop using it. The problem,
however, is that
my hands are tied until I can get my old messages AND my
300+ addresses
in my address book.

Gmail has not done one thing to remedy this issue. It is
completely
unacceptable and a major major flaw.

That's much same as the one I am facing. My account was
disabled but
without any notification.

Do you use any third party software with your account?  It
seems that
this is one of the major causes of these problems.  Did you
send an
email to mailto:gmail-lockdowngoogle.com
[ gmail-lockdown  google . com ]  ?

For the past couple of weeks I have been able to start out
ok in gmail
then about an hour later I go to email someone and get a
messae that
says Unexpect error occurred. Check back in a few minutes. 
This
happens around 11pm East Coast Time.
