I don't think so... When you sign up for a GMail account, you automatically get a Google Account, with the GMail email address being the Google Account9;s user name. ; I believe that when you delete a GMail account, they will ask you for another email address so that you can still keep your Google Account, in case you have other stuff stored on their servers that you don't want to get rid of, or you just want to keep using it.  However, since I have never closed a GMail account, I am simply guessing, and could be wrong

  Question related to the same

When I deleted the email account(s)
And before finalizing the process, I was asked to enter an alternative/
new email account!
Does this mean that any email sent to that (deleted) account will be
forwarded to the one I entered here?

While reading this post the above question accrued to me...

Hello,

First thanks for your reply.

I did some checking after reading your message.
I double checked the email accounts I supplied, Gmail
account and MSN
account and I
received no transferred emails in both accounts from the
deleted ones.
So I don't think this meant for that, because after deletion
process
(till now) nothing had been
transferred to the new or alternative email account I
provided.
Additionally I think there is another process
of account transferring which is not applicable to the
deletion
process right now, user have to
perform it prior to deleting his/her account.

"Trial and Error"
Will your feedback triggered this simple idea:

I just sent a dummy email to one of the Gmail accounts I
deleted, and
guess what?!

Let the reply message speak for itself

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status
Notification

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    Deleted_Accountgmail.com

Technical details of permanent failure:
UNKNOWN_USER: No such user"
