They can, and you can. If you click the links to report
that your
account was compromised, there are further options, such as,
"My
secondary e-mail has been changed". You fill out the
form providing
the account that it previously was set to. There are also
options for
putting in the original referrer, the account creation link.
Lots of
information that only the original person could possibly
know. They
state that they'll begin investigating, cause *I* could fill
that out
about your account, and they don't want to just take my word
for it,
they want to be sure it really happened.
This is the route your friend should have taken.
