Since Gmail has an antivirus filter built into the service,
each e-mail,
particularly those with attachments, will be scanned. Also,
Gmail will block
sending/receiving of attachments containing executable
files, such as
programmes, even if they're in a zip archive. I doubt,
however, that Gmail
will alert you to the presence of viruses in an e-mail,
however I did
receive some spurious message apparently telling me that
I've sent a message
containing virus(es). This was an e-mail message by the way,
and not an
alert from an antivirus programme, which, in my case, is AVG
Free. Hope that
helps.
