This is kinda a dumb question, considering all the ultra
tech talk
here, but is there some spell check feature on g-mail as one
is
sending out inquiries to prospective employers or colleges,
or clients
etc? I got rather dependent on that with previous word
programs. And
now I come off as some bad spelling moron. Is there that
feature? How
do you activate it? If they don't have that they should add
it, don't
you think? az

No there is not, but...
You can install the Google Toolbar which has spell check
built into it.
You can use Firefox, which has automatic spell check built
into it.
You can compose the message in something like Word, with
spell check
in it, then copy and paste it into the e-mail you're
sending.

In addition to Zack's suggestions you can also use a
traditional e-
mail client such as MS Outlook or Thunderbird. These have
spell
checking capabilities in them. Thunderbird is free. I
recently
installed it and it pretty much alks you through setting up
gmail
access. Very painless.

Dang... I completely forgot about that (since I use FF and
have the
built-in automatic checking going on).
Retract my previous "No"... it's right there on my
screen right now.
Sorry for the confusion; and thanks J for the assist.

After seeing your response I started to second guess mine.

In standard view there is a link titled "Check
spelling" near the top
right of the composition panel. That will enable the spell
check
feature in gmail. Incorrectly spelled words will be
highlight for you
to correct. Is this also true in basic HTML?

Here is says this feature is not available in HTML Basic.
So you may
need to switch the mode in which you view gmail.
