Is there an easy way to change the background on the screen from white to for example blue with white text? Hi. I don't know if you have gone to "Start" , "Control Panel";, "Display"  but if not, you could see if that helps?  There is a similar menu if you right click your mouse on a blank spot on your desktop and a menu appears and you click on "properties"; . If you're looking to change the color scheme in Gmail it is not so easy. I think I've seen an add-on for Firefox that gives you some alternate choices for your Gmail interface. If you use Firefox check out their add-ons. Sorry I can't be more specific. Thanks you were absolutely correct. Once in the Start>Control Panel>Display and in Advance you can change the back ground color. Thanks.
