upon opening some emails (in Gmail, with Firefox) that have
multiple
messages inside, all are expanded and I have to click the
"collapse
all" link off to the right side of the page. Now, this
doesn't happen
every time, but more than not. Anyway to fix this? I don't
want to
use Internet explorer. By the way, I'm on a Windows XP pc.

It happens only if the messages are unread.

Fuzzy, it's happening to me even if the messages are already
read. I
thought about the unread thing but that wasn't the case. Any
other
ideas?

If you found the conversation through a search, all the
messages that
contain the search term will also be expanded, read or
unread. Is
that what's happening?

No, these aren't messages found through a search. Just
regular emails
in my INBOX.
It seems to happen after the messages start to add up maybe
around the
6 or 7 message mark, but I can't say that for sure. I'll
have to try
and pay close attention to see if it occurs at a certain
number of
messages in an email. It gets very frustrating.

I've also recently realized (cause I don't normally do this
so it's
only recently that I saw it), that if you open a message
from the
contact's screen that all the messages from that contact are
expanded,
regardless of where the message is located.
If this isn't the case for you (unread, contact lookup,
search
condition) and you're still getting the odd expanded message
result;
try to clear your cache/cookies, try a different
browser/computer, and
if it still persists, file a bug report to Google as it may
be
something odd with your account.
