I am still not satisfied with one suggestion to bring up
"All Mail" -
are there any other ideas exactly how to get into this filed
area?

Using the search function is the second suggestion.  Has
this worked?

Why are you dissatisfied with All Mail?

Unfortunately, my only other suggestion is to start using
POP access
to your Gmail account with an email client such as
Thunderbird, Apple
Mail, or Outlook.  Then you can file the messages into
folders.This
will really only help for the future.
