| Developing Online Service - Email
incorrectly going into Gmail spam |
  United States |

Hi,
I'm developing an online service. When new users signup a
confirmation
email is sent to them. I've tested this email on Gmail and
unfortunately it goes right into the spam folder. Clearly
this email
is not spam. How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Paul

It could be because your service is new, also. When a new domain suddenly starts sending mass emails, it could be temporarily blacklisted. It's not as bad as it sounds though, as time usually fixes this. I've had a few domains get blacklisted, then it lifts once the site traffic starts taking a more legitimate shape.

at places where i have signed up for things that require a
confirmation email, generally they advise the recipients to
make sure
the email address is added in an acceptable list, like
adding the
email addy to a contact list, and if not to check the
spam/junk/bulk
folder. so that would indicate that you aren't the only one
and some
of these sites have been around a long time and are big
companies [for
instance my power company and phone company the latter which
is my
isp.]
