Gmail smtp Server Down?

All of a sudden I can't send an email message out through
Gmail's
outbound server. My outgoing server setting in my MacBook
Pro is:
smtp.gmail.com. My email client is Apple's Mail, and for
this server
the error message states "offline". Is anyone else
experiencing this
problem with Gmail? Thanks...SlimJim
