They simply don't feel that the software is complete to the point they are willing to guarrantee business people (as well as others) that their email will always be available and will never become corrupted in some fashion. At least that's my take on it.
You can get the "non-beta" version by signing up with GAFYD, but you will often not have the newest "experimental" features (for instance, they are currently still serving Gmail 1.0 to them, instead of the
2.0 version you're likely seeing). The benefit is that Google guarantees 99% availablity and provides support for any problems you may encounter.

You probably don't realize the old version was BETA also. I'm still using the older version because I had so many problems with the newer one. If you are having problems with the new version go to settings and change you language to English UK. Then the older version (only) will be used.

Actually, I do. The old version under the control of GAFYD or whatnot is *not* beta, as far as I know. I don't actually have an account, but I've heard other people hear repeat that. Regardless, there is still the uptime and support guarantees, which Google is unwilling to provide for the latest version.

The Premier edition (paid) uses the "old" version, but I'm almost completely positive is considered out of beta. The free versions of Gmail, even those using the old version, are still beta.

True, Perhaps for Premium Edition, but for the Free version of GFYD (Or GAFYD Or GAfYD), the interface is Gmail 1.x (Or Is it 2.9, As can be found in this link http://urlet.com/postulates.correctly
) and as can be seen in the attached screen print...

Maybe we should be glad that it's still beta.
Once it's no longer beta, they might start charging for it.
JMHO.
