A listserv is a more appropriate way to handle large
mailings. There
are several free services (Google Groups; like this one, and
Yahoo
Groups are probably the most popular). This list, for
example, has
over 14,000 users. The listserv will take care of the
mailing (and is
designed to handle large mailing lists), as well as field
bounces, and
sub/un-subs for you.
