What exactly happens that Gmail "isn't working?"
Does it refuse to load?

Off the top of my head without knowing that, make sure you
are using
Firefox/Camino. Safari is not technically a supported
browser, so
there are no guarrantees that Gmail will always function
correctly
under it.
