Does anyone know of a good regularly updated Google group
for Yahoo
Mail Beta?

Yes I know it says gmailtools.com but the instructions for
the Mail
Beta are there.  It worked for me, and its so simple!  Yahoo
Mail Beta
is excellent!  I have two favorite mail providers now Yahoo!
and Google.

Have you tried it out.  I like it, but nothing in this
universe will
pry me away from Gmail.  I am familiar with Yahoo! as I used
it before
switching to Gmail.

So what's the big deal about yahoo mail beta? First I've
heard of it. I
like yahoo, and still have several yahoo accounts in
addition to gmail

Judie, follow the instructions in the link that Dave gave in
his first
email and you'll be able to see for yourself. The new mail
beta feels
like a desktop application - think of Outlook. Personally I
find it
rather slow and sluggish, but it's still in beta. Hopefully
they'll
make it more snappy.

I also agree that it is slow and sluggish even though I have
a
broadband connection.  As for unwanted email,  I have a
separate Gmail
address for that which I also use to post to these groups

It's very heavy on the client side, but also consider that
they just
now (these past 1-2 weeks) pushed it to a wider audience. My
guess is
that  more than the number of Gmail users were invited and
switched
their Yahoo Mail accounts to the beta version these past 2
weeks. I'm
sure there are quirks to iron out, although it's getting to
be heavier
than Gmail on the browser. I don't see it becoming very
popular like
that.

"Rich-client" web applications like Gmail have
been known to be rather
heavy load for the browser due to all the javascript code
that needs
to be downloaded and executed. With the number of highly
skilled
people employed at Yahoo and Google, I hope their webmail
apps become
even snappier and light in the near future.
