Contacts List - turn off auto add feature

Dear Gmail,

Please allow Gmail users to turn off the feature that
automatically
adds email addresses to our contacts list.

For those who reply, "Simply delete the unwanted
contacts from your
contacts list."  Please don't.  I am sick of deleting
contacts.  I am
on multiple, and important, distribution lists that
sometimes list up
to 60 different email addresses.  I have already deleted
hundreds of
contacts; some more then twice.  I simply don't want these
contacts
on my list.  Is that to much to ask?

I am not a programmer.  However, I don't think adding
functionally to
turn this feature off, or customizing this feature, would
require much
programming expertise or effort.

By the way, I love everything else about Gmail.

best place
to suggest that. In fact, according to that page, it's one
of the most
popular suggestions made. I doubt any Google engineers read
this
group.
