Can't see Gmail after installing Thunderbird - 3 new

I installed Thunderbird yesterday, and now when I bring up
Gmail, the screen
is blank. If I wipe out all cookies, passwords, etc, and log
in, I can see it
in "basic HTML mode, but when I click on the hyperlink
to switch to "standard
view" the screen goes blank and I can see NOTHING.
Anyone know WTF is going on?
