Thread: Google search for site

Google search for site

I need recommendations for the strategy to use that will
search my
site thoroughly - and also search the web. Am developing a
site on
the history of computer communications that has lots of data
that
should probably be indexed. I've looked over the options
and can't
discern which one to use. Feedback please. Verona Fonte

If your site is already included in Google's index, you
could use the
Google AJAX Search API to implement both site and web
search. Just
search for "Google AJAX Search API." Otherwise,
there are plenty of
options out there for ready-made search engines or even
building your
own.

I've downloaded the API search and have a key. Where can I
find easy
installation directions? I want to embed the search box in
a template
and have one on everypage so folks can search the site, and
search the
web.
Also what would you charge to do this? I have 4 templates?
