setNoResultsString() method of the SearchControl class does not work

i created a new instance of the SeachControl class and tried
using the
setNoResultsString() method passing in something into the
parameter.

i tested it with a search string that would definately yield
no search
results but i do not get the "No Results" string
message appearing at
where the search results should be

code is as follows:

// Create a search control
var searchControl = new google.search.SearchControl();

// If no results, will display message
searchControl.setNoResultsString(google.search.SearchControl
.NO_RESULTS_DEFAULT_STRING);

i followed everything accordingly to the API documentation
on:
http://code.google.com/
apis/ajaxsearch/documentation/reference.html#_class_GSearchC
ontrol

does anyone know why this string message does not appear
when there
are no search results?

Did you try searchControl.setNoResultsString("No
results");?  And
please provide a link to the application, working or not.

I did that too, i passed in a string literal and it still
did not work
