Hi,

You can use Google Checkout without SSL installed on your
server if you
don't need to perform merchant calculations and if you'll be
fulfilling
orders through the Merchant Center rather than via your
store back-end.

To clarify, SSL certificate is required if you need to
receive
notifications and/or perform merchant calculations such as
real time
shipping calculations.
