I've only just really started looking into the whole Google
Checkout
system, but so far I'm really very impressed. I'm hoping to
implement
Google Checkout (along with similar popular systems, namely
paypal(sorry >_<)) into my website in a
"credits" system.
The idea is that customers buy credits using Buy Now buttons
(or if
it's actually possible a text input for the amount), then
they can use
the credits to purchase items from the website. The using of
credits
is simple enough (all of that system is already
implemented), I'm just
wondering how I would go about using the API to allow the
website to
receive confirmation of the payment, so I can update the
database with
the correct number of credits for the correct username.
Has anyone tried using Google Checkout with a credits system
like
this? Or does anyone have any tips / advice / help they can
give me?
Any and all replies are appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Joel,
Welcome to the forum!
The following article might help you on implementing a
Google Checkout
button with text input for the amount:
http://checkout.google.com/supp
ort/sell/bin/answer.py?answer=64730&topic=8671
Also, the following section should help you understand how
to receive
confirmation of the payment: http://code.google.com/apis/checkout/d
eveloper/index.html#notification_api
Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Jacob

Thanks for the reply Jacob, wasn't sure whether I'd get one
or not ,
I'll check out those articles and let you know how I get
on.
Cheers,
Joel

Joel,
Assuming that you're using the HTML API to pass a form, you
can
include merchant-item-id in the cart as follows:
<input type="hidden"
name="shopping-cart.items.item-1.merchant-item-
id" value="SKU123">
Then, the value "SKU123" will appear on the order
details page
Please reply back if this doesn't help.
Thanks,
Jacob
